Trail Craft
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Jumping Ahead, Inc. ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit https://playtrailcraft.com (the "Site"), join the Trail Craft beta and launch list (the "List"), or take part in a test of Trail Craft (the "Beta"). We are the controller of this information. If you have questions, write to privacy@jumpingahead.com.
Trail Craft (the "Game") is in development and is not yet available in the App Store or Google Play. Before the Game is released, we will update this policy to describe the information the Game itself handles.
The short version
- Browsing the Site is anonymous. The Site uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising or tracking technologies. Its fonts and files come from our own host, not from third parties.
- If you join the List, we keep your email address, the phone platform you picked (if any) and a record that you asked to hear from us. We use them only to send Beta invitations and launch news.
- Our emails contain no tracking pixels and no tracked links.
- We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.
- You can leave the List at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email, or by writing to us.
1. What we collect and why
When you join the List
| Information | Example | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | you@example.com | To send the Beta invitations and launch news you asked for |
| Phone platform (optional) | iPhone, Android or Both | To send you the right Beta invitation and the right store link |
| Your consent | the box you ticked, and when you ticked it | To keep a record that you asked to hear from us |
| Sign-up record | the date and time you joined, and the IP address used | To prove consent if asked, and to detect and block automated or fake sign-ups |
| Delivery information | whether an email was delivered or bounced | To keep the List working and stop sending to addresses that fail |
We do not ask for your name, and you do not need to tell us whether you own a vehicle or have driven off-road.
When you take part in the Beta
Beta invitations are sent through Apple's TestFlight (iPhone) or Google Play's testing programs (Android). To send an iPhone invitation, we give Apple the email address you joined the List with. If you accept, Apple or Google handles the installation under its own terms and privacy policy, and may share the following with us:
- the name and email address of your Apple or Google account as the tester;
- your device model, operating system and the build you installed;
- crash reports, if your device settings allow them;
- feedback and screenshots you choose to send.
We use this only to run the Beta and fix problems. Beta builds save your progress on your device. If a Beta build will send gameplay information to our servers, we will say so in the invitation before you install it.
Technical information every connection carries
Whenever your browser connects to the Site, our website host necessarily receives your device's IP address and basic technical information such as browser type, operating system and the page requested. The host may keep this in server logs, for a limited time, to deliver the Site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use it to identify you, build a profile of you or track you across other websites.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and we use it only to reply and to help you.
What we do not collect
Through the Site and the List, we do not collect your phone number, postal address, precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health data, advertising identifier or browsing history.
2. How we use information, and our legal bases
We use the information above only to:
- send Beta invitations and launch news you asked for (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing);
- keep a record of your consent and protect the List from fake or automated sign-ups (our legitimate interest in a working, lawful mailing list, which we have balanced against your rights);
- run the Beta and fix problems in it (performance of our agreement with you, and our legitimate interest in improving the Game);
- answer you when you contact us (legitimate interest, or performance of contract);
- comply with the law and respond to lawful requests.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build profiles of you, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
3. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We share it only with:
- Our email service provider, which stores the List and sends our emails on our behalf, under a data processing agreement, and may not use it for its own purposes;
- Our website host, which serves the Site on our behalf;
- Apple and Google, to send and run Beta invitations as described above, under their own privacy policies;
- Authorities or others when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or that it is necessary to protect the safety, rights or property of players, the public or us;
- A successor, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case the information would remain subject to this policy or one at least as protective, and we would tell you before it became subject to a different one.
4. Where information is processed
We are based in the United States, and our providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where information about people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. How long we keep information
- The List. We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we close the List. When the Game is released, we will send the launch announcement and then either ask whether you want to keep hearing about Trail Craft or delete the List. We will not keep emailing you without asking.
- After you unsubscribe. We keep only your email address on a "do not email" list, so we never email you again by mistake.
- Beta information. Kept for the length of the Beta and up to 12 months afterward, then deleted. Apple and Google keep their own records under their policies.
- Server logs. Kept for a limited period set by our providers.
- Emails to us. Kept while we help you and for up to two years afterward, unless we need them longer to comply with the law or resolve a dispute.
- Backups. Deleted information may remain in our providers' encrypted backups for a limited period until those backups are overwritten.
6. Unsubscribing and deleting your information
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. One click removes you from the List.
To have everything we hold about you deleted, email privacy@jumpingahead.com from the address you signed up with, with the subject line "Delete my data". We will delete it within 30 days and confirm by reply. If you want us to stop emailing you entirely, we will keep your address on our "do not email" list only.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- restrict or object to our processing of it;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing;
- not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of them, email privacy@jumpingahead.com. To protect you, we verify a request by replying to the email address on the List. We will respond within the time the law requires (generally 30 days, or 45 days for U.S. state privacy laws, which may be extended where the law allows). You may use an authorized agent where the law allows; we may ask for proof of the agent's authority. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and, if you are in the U.S., contact your state attorney general if you disagree with the outcome.
EU, UK and Swiss residents may also lodge a complaint with their data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
U.S. state privacy laws (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others). In the last 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (email address and IP address); internet or other electronic network activity information (the sign-up record and email delivery information); and, for Beta testers, device information and any feedback you send. We collected them from you and your device, for the purposes described in section 2, and disclosed them only to the recipients in section 3. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we have not done so in the last 12 months. We honor Global Privacy Control signals, although, because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing for them to opt you out of.
Do Not Track. The Site does not track you across other websites, so it treats every visitor as if Do Not Track were on.
8. Children
The List and the Beta are not directed to children under 13. You must be 13 or older to join the List, or older if the law where you live sets a higher age for consenting to email (up to 16 in parts of the European Union); otherwise a parent or guardian must sign up for you. Beta testing also requires an Apple or Google account, which has its own age rules.
If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, write to privacy@jumpingahead.com and we will delete it.
9. Security
We keep the information we hold to a minimum, which is the best protection there is. The Site is served over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the List is held by our email service provider under its security program, accessible to us only through its access-controlled account. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy before the Game is released, and whenever we start collecting or sharing something new. The "Last updated" date shows when it last changed. If a change is material, we will tell people on the List by email and give notice on the Site before it takes effect, and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
